Home / Services / Iron Infusion Therapy
An IV iron infusion delivers iron directly into the bloodstream, restoring iron stores faster and more completely than oral supplements, without the stomach side effects of iron pills. Flare MD provides mobile iron infusions throughout Dallas in the comfort of your home, or in person at our nearby Bedford clinic.
No payment required. Medical intake. Quick consult.
From first request to first infusion in four steps.
Submit a request by phone call, text, or online booking form. You will then receive an immediate response and a confirmation within 15 minutes.
If you already have recent labs, we will review them. Otherwise, we offer an affordable $35 iron panel to get you started quickly.
A licensed provider reviews your history, allergies, symptoms and lab work, completes a telehealth exam and then builds your treatment plan.
Once treatment is approved, your iron infusion is scheduled and administered at home or in clinic.
No referral is required. Instead, our medical providers can evaluate you directly and prescribe treatment if appropriate. If your doctor has already recommended an iron infusion, we gladly accept referrals too.
In most cases, you can begin treatment the same day we receive and review your lab work.
A CBC, ferritin, serum iron and TIBC completed within the last 30 days. No recent labs? The $35 iron panel can be drawn at any Labcorp or at one of our clinic locations.

An IV iron infusion may be the right choice if oral supplements are not working or your body needs iron faster than pills can deliver.
Iron infusions are not appropriate for patients with iron overload conditions such as hemochromatosis, an active infection, or a known hypersensitivity to IV iron. Your Flare MD provider screens for all of these during your telehealth visit before any treatment is approved.
Your provider reviews recent lab work, including hemoglobin, ferritin and iron saturation. You also complete a brief medical intake covering your health history, current medications and any allergies.
A small IV line is placed in your arm, and then the iron solution is infused directly into your bloodstream. Your first infusion typically takes about 1 hour. Most patients relax comfortably during the process.
You rest for a short observation period, typically 15 to 30 minutes, before appointment is completed. There are no activity restrictions, so you can return to your normal routine right away.
Just two things: normal saline and iron sucrose. In fact, nothing else is added. Many patients notice improved energy within a few days to two weeks after their first infusion.
Your provider can help you decide based on your labs and health history.
| Factor | Oral iron | IV iron |
|---|---|---|
| Absorption | About 10% on a good day | Nearly 100%, directly into the bloodstream |
| Stomach side effects | Nausea, constipation and cramps are common | No GI discomfort |
| Time to improvement | Three to six months of daily dosing | Energy often improves within a few days to two weeks |
| Better fit when | Deficiency is mild and pills are tolerated | Pills have not worked, are hard to tolerate, or levels need to come up quickly |
